There are always ways to build with nature within a development.
We will be required to show how we improve the environment. This is referred to as ‘biodiversity net gain’ and there is a mandatory requirement under national legislation to deliver a 10% net gain.
We are exploring using the Building with Nature Programme established by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and the University of the West of England. This is a way of holding ourselves to account.
Our approach to delivering this nature focussed scheme is informed by a comprehensive suite of wildlife habitats and species surveys – all to be reported in the technical work submitted as part of any future planning application.
Bellway has laid the foundations for the future by building an experimental new eco home – The Future Home @ The University of Salford.
